The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Adolescent/Adult Training is a comprehensive online program designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) planning to practice in the role of a SANE. This 41-hour didactic training covers both adult and adolescent populations. Participants learn essential skills related to medical forensic examinations, evidence collection, and trauma-informed care for survivors of sexual assault. The course aligns with the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) SANE Education Guidelines and provides 41 contact hours in nursing upon completion. Topics include victim-centered approaches, legal considerations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, this course has been accepted by the New York State Department of Health. Participants may also explore clinical simulation training options to enhance their competence in performing sexual assault medical forensic examination.
